Sisters of Mercy Music Bursary            

In recognition of the rich musical traditions of Mercedes College, the Sisters of Mercy Perth (Amalgamated) Inc, offer a Music Bursary to encourage talented students to pursue music studies at the College. Applicants are expected to demonstrate exceptional ability and potential together with the enthusiasm to make an active contribution to the musical life of the College. The applicant must be a current student or a student accepted for enrolment for the following year. The Bursary is needs-based and is available to assist parents whose financial means may preclude their daughter from pursuing or continuing to pursue instrumental or vocal lessons.  The full cost of lessons and instrument hire is covered by the Bursary.  Lessons are offered through the Mercedes College Instrumental Program with College music teachers only.

Candidates Selection Process

  • present two contrasting pieces for audition
  • attend, together with a parent or guardian, an interview as part of the selection process

Music Bursary Terms

  • students maintain a high level of achievement in their chosen area of music study
  • students are an active member of an instrumental or vocal ensemble as appropriate, and as required
  • students pursue the study of their instrument through the College music program
  • students select the academic music subject offered in the curriculum in Years 7, 8, 9 and 10 according to their year level

Aboriginal Scholarship Program
Families of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Island descent are given the opportunity to engage in a Catholic school environment through scholarship opportunities for the education of their daughters.  Two scholarships are offered annually and renewed on an annual basis, subject to a satisfactory review by the Principal.  For more information please contact admin.

Mercedes College Alumni (MCA) Year 7 Scholarships

The MCA Scholarships are awarded to two students who have accepted a position to enter Year 7 the following year and whose mother is a supporting (financial) member of the Mercedes College Alumni.  Two partial Scholarships to the value of $2000 will be given to help cover fees for Year 7.  These Scholarships have been established to encourage and support the education of an ex-student's daughter or granddaughter at Mercedes College.  Students must display:

  • A positive, caring and enthusiastic approach to all facets of life;
  • A willingness to actively contribute to College life through its academic, pastoral, spiritual and creative arts programs;
  • An ability to contribute to the co-curricular program in the College, whilst holding the scholarship; and
  • The ability to adhere and uphold the ethos of the College.

Applicants must complete an application form and return by 25 August 2017. A $50 application fee is payable on receipt of application. The successful applicant will be announced at the Presentation Evening on Friday 20 October 2017.
