Presentation Evening showcases the Mercy story

The College community were treated to some stunning performances at this year's Presentation Evening held at the Perth Concert Hall. The event is a celebration of College life and student achievements throughout the year.
This year, in the College's 170th Anniversary and the Year of Mercy, the Mercedes/Trinity Chorale performed Richard Smallwood's gospel hymn, Total Praise.  The piece won the group the Catholic Performing Arts Shields for both Secondardy Choral and Sacred Choral at this years' Festival.  A mini-musical "Mercy Past, Mercy Present and Mercy Future" was also performed by students in Years 7 to 11.  The performance was a reminder to the College community of it's rich history as the musical told the story of how Catherine McAuley was called to help the poor, and how that legacy was continued throughout the years, to today.
Throughout the evening awards were presented to students.  A number of special awards were also presented at the Awards ceremony including the City of Perth Awards.  The "Leadership in the Community" Award was presented to Year 12 student Jaia Bourgeois-Brooks; and the "Student of the Year Award" was presented to Year 12 student Carissa Soares.
Kathlyn del Rosario was awarded the Proxime Accessit, and Jaia Boureois-Brooks was also awarded Dux of the College.
The evening concluded with the Year 7's farewelling the Year 12's with a beautiful rendition of Ain't No Mountain High Enough, followed by the Principal, Kerrie Fraser announcing the 2017 Prefects and the Deputy Head Girl for 2017, Emily Roberts and Head Girl, Francesca De Nuccio.
